It's vacation season! Are you excited?
According to Ayurveda, "The trip has already begun before you depart."
Here are some tips for enjoying your vacation to the fullest!!
Ayurvedic Vacation prep
Pre-flight preparations
A few days before your flight, try to be mindful about the foods you put into your body to avoid health issues.
To avoid summer fatigue during your travels, it is recommended to take 100mg of Vitamin B family and 3000mg of Vitamin C.
For each dosha, keep the following tips in mind.
Vata-dominant people should eat a diet rich in oils.
Pitta-dominant people should eat steamed vegetables and cooling spices.
Kapha-dominant people should avoid too many oil and dairy products and eat lighter foods.
Preventing constipation while traveling
Do you suffer from constipation, dry skin when you travel?
This is because during flights, we are affected by changes in atmospheric pressure, wind, and sunlight, which increase the "Space element" and "Air element". To prevent constipation and dryness, try a self-Abhyanga with plenty of oil before boarding.
Another option is taking Triphala supplements, a type of Ayurvedic herbal medicine. Triphala helped me maintain my bowel movement when I went on a study trip to India.
Preventing irritation while traveling
Have you ever felt irritable while traveling in a group? You are in charge of everything on the trip, from planning your destination and schedule to arranging tickets, reserving hotels, and getting there. It's fun to make your own plans, but it's easy to get frustrated when everyone's wishes don't come together. In such situations, add calming essential oils such as Geranium, Rose, Sandalwood, Mint, Lavender, or Chamomile to a warm bath (up to 6 drops total) . After soaking, apply a light amount of coconut oil all over your body (you can also a small amount of peppermint essential oil to the oil 👍)
Preventing swelling
When you feel easily tired or swelling, depressed in an unfamiliar place, we recommend carrying essential oils that help regulate your body, such as eucalyptus, ginger, juniper, orange, and rosemary. Add essential oils to your room spray or aroma bath (up to 6 drops total).
Trips almost never go as planned.
Surrender to the flow of life on your vacations and enjoy. 🙏

Bonus
My husband said to me recently,
"I want to go to a yoga dojo on vacation this year."
I said, “What do you mean by ‘yoga dojo’ ?”
Are you referring to the Ananda Ashram in Monroe? Or do you mean Kripalu Yoga Center in Massachusetts?
“I want to focus more on practicing yoga and understand things that I don’t understand yet.”
He said.
Oh, OK. I storngly respect this.
I decided to find a great “yoga dojo” to bring my husband to.
When I started looking into yoga retreats, one of my clients told me about a great Panchakarma session she had received at an Ayurvedic Resort in Puerto Rico.
I was planning a trip to India to get a Panchakarma treatment next year, but I could get one now just four hours away in PR!
She shared the information with me and I excitedly started planning.
This summer, my husband and I going on vacation to the island of Puerto Rico 🎵 (Sadly this stay is not enought for Panchakarma)
